WebJul 8, 2009 · I found it while searching for answers out on the net. I have a '91 S10, 4.3L TBI with a timing issue. A blown head gasket led me to my current automotive adventure. I rebuilt both heads and the TBI, installed a new oil pan gasket, new timing chain and gaskets/seals (sprockets looked ok). With everything put back together, I fired it up. WebJan 18, 2013 · 1 Answer. On all 1993 and later GM 4.3L engines the timing mark is on the plastic timing chain cover. (a small notch) it's about in the 1 oclock position above the balancer. If your balancer has 2 marks.. from the clockwise rotation, ignor the first mark. TDC "top dead center" is the second mark on the balancer.
